About Us
Hello!
Kidkat was conceptualised by parents, for parents.
We know that parenting is hard. That's why we hope to support parents in two key areas: curating resources on topics that are difficult to talk about, and making language learning fun!
Why must we talk about difficult issues?
Your child might be struggling with body image issues, or dealing with a bully in school. He could be trying to cope with grief; she might have just begun swearing. Whether we like it or not, our kids are going to be exposed to these issues. Their accessibility to information means they will learn faster, better, and earlier than we ever did.
That's why we believe that as tough as it is, these conversations need to start early, and at home. There are so many benefits to building these strong foundations for conversations because you are essentially letting your child know that they can trust you. But as parents, we might not always know what to say. What is considered age-appropriate and how much is too much? We know it can feel so overwhelming.
The good news is - there are a ton of resources out there for you. And we've done the heavy lifting in scouring through tons of titles to pick out the best ones we can find. Because we believe that these are important conversations that every family should have access to.
Can language learning really be fun?
The other struggle that we commonly hear about is parents trying to get inculcate a love for language and reading, especially in Mandarin! It's not easy, especially when most families these days are not effectively bilingual. That's why we curate engaging and interactive resources so that language learning can be fun for everyone!
Our goal is to be your trusted go-to store if you're struggling with a topic to discuss with your child or need some resources to spark joy in language learning. We also hope to build a community of parents who can share ideas on how to broach these topics! We might not have all the answers, but we can work together to make this journey a little easier for everyone (:
With love,
Kidkat
